Meet Cosmetic Surgeon Mark A. Brzezienski, M.D.

Chattanooga, Tennessee Cosmetic Surgeon Mark Brzezienski joined the Plastic Surgery Group and The Hayes Hand Center in 1995. He is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who furthered his training with an Orthopedic fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. Dr. Brzezienski completed his General Surgery training at the University of Connecticut in 1992. He then went on to study Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The Albany Medical Center in New York. Further training in Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity was taken at the Philadelphia Hand Center, a division of the Department of Orthopedics at the Jefferson Medical College, where he completed Medical School in 1987.

Dr. Brzezienski has received board certifications from The National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Surgery, The American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand..

Dr. Brzezienski is actively involved in the training of Plastic Surgeons and Orthopedic Surgeons in residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine on a daily basis. He has been appointed Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery (Hand) by the University of Tennessee. He lectures frequently on a wide variety of topics within his specialty. Since his appointment, he has been twice honored with awards for his educational abilities. He is one of a few physicians in the area who conducts basic science research and has published numerous scientific papers. His current research interests range from the use of human tissue glue in breast surgery and abdominoplasty to wound healing.

Dr. Brzezienski sees frequent application of his research interests in his practice. He is immediate past Director of The Regional Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center at the Erlanger Health System. At the Hayes Hand Center, he is involved with microsurgical reconstruction of limb threatening industrial injuries as well as those attributed to a variety of overuse phenomena. In his Plastic Surgical practice, he has developed significant expertise in the use of medical lasers, especially in the rejuvenation of the aging face. He has worked hand-in-hand with many of our region's best breast surgeons in preservation and reconstruction of the breast after treatment for cancer.

Cosmetic Surgeon Mark Brzezienski is married and has two daughters. He is committed to his family, his church and to his community. He loves spending time with his family and pursuing the hobby he has had for thirty-five years - classical piano.
