Longer Eyelashes are Now Possible

Serving Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga Tennessee Plastic Surgery for Your Wedding DayRecent medical developments have led to a brand new prescription treatment which promises to increase your eyelashes.  The days of artificial eyelashes are numbered.  LATISSE solution can now be used to create permanent longer, thicker, darker eyelashes.  The active ingredient (Bimatoprost) prolongs the growth phase of our eyelashes. While the exact mechanism is unknown, the number of eyelash hairs in the growth phase also increases. The onset of longer lashes is gradual and takes about two months, but studies show that these significant results are worthier the wait.

The FDA has approved LATISSE for the treatment of inadequate or thinning eyelashes. The product has been studied in clinical trials to be sure that it is safe and effective. It is available only by doctor's prescription, and The Plastic Surgery Group will be introducing their patients to this cosmetic breakthrough this month.

LATISSE is surprisingly easy to use as a once-a-day treatment. Every night the face is cleansed. Make up and contact lenses are removed. A sterile applicator is removed from the supplied tray and held horizontally. A single drop of the treatment solution is placed on the applicator near its tip. The applicator is immediately drawn carefully across the upper eyelid margin at the base of the eyelashes. The movement is from the inner to the outer eye. Any excess solution is blotted away from the comer of the eyelid margin. The lower eyelid is not treated. The applicator is discarded and the process is repeated for the opposite eyelid. A new applicator is used to avoid any contamination from eye to eye. Remember that this is an ophthalmic preparation, so if it gets into the eye there is no need to rinse it out. It is perfectly safe.

If you forget to use the product for a night or two, don't try to catch up. Simply continue treatment the next night and keep on schedule. If you wish to discontinue using the product, your eyelashes will return to their pretreatment state after several weeks to months. They will not get thinner than they were when you started using the product. It does not replace mascara. But the use of this or any other eyelid cosmetic can certainly be continued during treatment to maximize the effect of your longer lashes.

This is a medical treatment and precautions must be taken with all medicines. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in this product, you should not use it. If you have been diagnosed with eye pressure problems or have risk factors for glaucoma such as a family history, you should contact your eye care specialist before use. This treatment is not indicated for people who are already being treated for glaucoma. You should inform your examining eye care specialist that you are using this product prior to your evaluation. Four percent of people using this treatment experienced an itching sensation around the eyes and some redness. Other less common side effects include darkening of the eyelid skin, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids. Rarely, there may be an increased brown pigmentation of the iris (the colored part of the eye).

So, forget about those expensive fake eyelashes. Say no to the glue, the blinking, and that heavy foreign feeling on your eyelid. No more time consuming single lash applications. A safe, simple, quick daily treatment can now make thicker, longer, darker eyelashes possible in just eight weeks. FDA approved LATISSE is now available by prescription.
